Version 0.11.0-alpha

Version 0.11.0-alpha is finally out with a lot of exciting changes! Surrender option, five new cards, some card rebalancing and reworking, GUI menu, (optional) hotkeys, stronger AI and various backend stability improvements.

Changelog

New cards

  • “Volatile Volcano” (spell, 17 cost): Deal Fire + Earth + Chance damage to your opponent.
  • “Epiphany” (miracle, 5 cost): Draw 3 cards.
  • “Hungry Idol” (relic, 10 cost): Whenever you play a Basic Income, trash it.
  • “Withering Curse” (curse, 10 cost): Whenever you gain mana, lose 1 HP per mana gained.
  • “Barren Curse” (curse, 10 cost): You gain 1 less gold at the start of your turn.

Card changes

  • “Magic Blast” reworked into “Mana Blast” (spell, 25 cost): Deal 3 x Magic damage to your opponent, plus 2 x Magic per mana you have; lose all your mana.
  • “Tools of the Trade” reabalanced: 17 cost -> 10 cost, no longer gives gold.
  • “Magic Juice” buffed: 10 cost -> 5 cost.
  • “Vicious Curse” buffed: also triggers on itself.
  • “Truly Blessed” changed: now draws after the played blessing is executed.
  • “Band of Thieves” fixed: really loses 2 gold (as it says), used to only lose 1 due to a bug.

UI

  • Main menu is now in the GUI, instead of the console.
  • Pause menu (not really paused) can be opened while in game with Esc or the window’s X button.
  • Settings menu added (in the pause menu): toggle fullscreen (also with F11), enable fast mode, add continue button after opponent’s turn, enable hotkeys and hotkey indicators (on cards/dice), look at the hotkeys/controls map.
  • Surrender button added (in the pause menu). It is on a 3 seconds timer, in order to prevent misclicks.
  • Exit button added (in the pause menu), since X no longer closes the window when in game. Also on a 3 second timer.
  • Deck titles added when viewing a deck.

AI

  • Significant improvements (according to self play data): about 80% winrate against the previous version.
  • The new difficulty 4 is similar to the old difficulty 5. (Though, still slightly over.)
  • This is mostly from better coefficient tuning through a ~lot of compute, as opposed to new tactical capabilities.
